FOUNDER

Dominique Nieves is a disabled Nuyorican writer-director and founder of Iron Glove Productions. Nieves took a detour through medical school, but an extended turn as a patient led to storytelling in her next act of life.

She was named a BAFTA Breakthrough Writer-Director for her Telly Award winning magic realism film, Our Lady Lupe, which was produced in association with PBS for their Primetime Broadcast Special, The Latino Experience. She used Our Lady Lupe to feature her favorite things: Latina leads, brujería, and a dog. This film was an official selection to the Oscar qualifying New York International Children’s Film Festival. As a BAFTA breakthrough, she has been mentored by directors such as Emmy/BAFTA winner Julie Anne Robinson, and DGA Diversity Task Force Co-Chair Michael Goi, ASC.

Her work has garnered recognition from CINEQUEST, HollyShorts Film Festival, and screened throughout the United States. Nieves has directed grant winning films supported by Art with Impact two years in a row, allowing her the opportunity to highlight mental health on screen. Both films won an invitation into the Olive Film Collection. She has been recognized as a Telemundo Unstoppable Woman, Meta Dale Tú Creator, and honored by Columbia University’s Lion Pride, celebrating her as an outstanding alumnus, using her artistic work to uplift her community. Dominique was recently awarded the Jerome Foundation’s NYC Film Production Grant, for the creation of her next narrative film.

As an ardent supporter of Latinx voices, Dominique created the Read Latinx Writers Initiative, pairing over 450 emerging Latinx writers with mentors at studios and networks. She recently worked in the writers’ room for a CBS drama and was an inaugural fellow of the 1in4 Coalition Mentorship Program, matched with Shondaland.

She continues to hone her craft with classes at Sundance Collab, Film Reframed, and Script Anatomy, and works as an actress with recent roles on CBS FBI: Most Wanted and ABC The Rookie: Feds.

Graphic Designer & Web Master

Amilcar Javier is a New York City based actor training in improv, comedy, drama & scene study with Anthony Abeson. In addition to his career in film, television, commercials and theater, Amilcar is also a writer, and producer. In between writing scripts & running lines, he also writes scripts and runs lines of code as a software developer. Amilcar lends his technical talents to create film graphics, animations, posters and the Iron Glove Productions website.

Production Intern - 2021

Katelyn Contreras is an emerging Dominican American filmmaker and sophomore at NYU studying Film and Television Production. She is an alumni of the prestigious Ghetto Film School and a member of the NYU Future Artist Scholars. Her first short film, “Kingdom Come” won a Special Grand Jury Prize at the Landmark Theater. Her goals in the industry is to tell stories that amplify underrepresented voices and uplift women in film.

Ruben Frischeisen is a sophomore at Hunter College majoring in film. He's received training from NYU and is a fellow at the award winning program Ghetto Film School. His film “Mamabear” screened at the Landmark Theater, which he wrote, directed and edited.
