PROBLEM
According to the WGAW inclusion report, Latinx writers comprise only 8.7% of TV writers in spite of making up 18.3% of the U.S. population, as the largest ethnic minority in the country. This makes Latinx TV writers the least represented group in the WGA.
SOLUTION
During Latinx Heritage Month, I began the #ReadLatinxWriters initiative & paired over 350 aspiring Latinx writers with established members of the industry for scripts reads.
This creates relationships in which people in positions of power know our participants as people and as writers.
