A young boy hides his emotions behind a Diablo Cojuelo mask in an attempt to appease his hyper-masculine father and protect himself from his school bully.

Amilcar Javier is one of 5 filmmakers awarded the $5,000 Voices with Impact Film Grant to create a 5 minute short film about the mental health effects around the culture of toxic masculinity.

The film has won the awards for Best Dramatic Film as well as Jury Selection at the Huntington Beach Cultural Cinema Showcase and was invited to Art With Impact’s Olive Film Collection.

Amilcar Javier - Alex, Writer, Producer

Amilcar Javier is a New York City based actor performing in film, TV, theater & commercials. He trains in improv, comedy, drama & scene study with Anthony Abeson. Amilcar was born & raised in New York City and is fluent in Spanish. In addition to his career as an actor, Amilcar is a grant-winning writer and producer. In between writing scripts & running lines, he also writes scripts and runs lines of code as a professional software developer.

Dominique Nieves - Denise, Director, Producer

Dominique is a Nuyorican filmmaker and founder of Iron Glove Productions. She aims to empower underrepresented voices through storytelling.

Nieves is an NBC Writer’s on the Verge Semi-Finalist, and the recipient of a Voices With Impact Grant, providing her the funds to create a short film about the mental health effects of sexual violence. The film won an invitation into the Olive Film Collection. Her other films have garnered awards and festival selections including official selection to HBO’s New York Latino Film Festival for, ‘A Nice Guy’, Screenplay Official Selection to Holly Shorts Film Festival for, ’21 Candles’, and Best Social Justice Film from Oniros Film Awards for, 'RACCA'. Nieves is an alumna of Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania.

Derrick Delgado - Jordan

Derrick Delgado is a Puerto Rican-American based in New Jersey. He discovered his love for acting at the end of 2019 and has not stopped exploring and learning. He is an honor student who will be starting fourth grade in the fall.

Derrick stars as Jordan in the film 'Masc', which allowed him to flex his acting chops by crying on cue, performing stunt work, and dramatically shifting character throughout the film.

He has trained with The Prep NJ and Actors Technique NY.

Zanin Lindsay - Cinematographer

Zanin Lindsay is a multi-racial filmmaker born and raised in the Bronx. With his unique cultural and socio-economic background he strives to use his talents in cinematography and directing to create content that will inspire his community in the Bronx and beyond.

Zanin enrolled at Bronx Community College where he earned his Associates in Media and Digital Film Production. Zanin received a number of awards while he attended, most notably the Sol Negrin Memorial Award, sponsored by the IATSE Local 600 International Cinematographers Guild, for his work as a filmmaker and student leader. His thesis film, Antithesis, won First Place at the 25th Annual Bronx Community College Film and Video Festival, and was awarded the Chairperson's Award and the Peter J. Rondinone Memorial Award.

Since graduating film school, Zanin has worked on a variety of short films, feature films, music videos, commercials and web series.

Monica Arsenault - 1st Assistant Director

Monica Arsenault is a Brooklyn-based writer, director, and producer whose work addresses issues at the intersection of faith, womanhood, and sexuality. Her goal as an artist is to bring communities together through diverse storytelling. Monica was so excited to join The Masc team as 1st AD. Working with a diverse group of people to tackle the important subject matter addressed in Masc was so moving and she found working with Dominique, Amilcar, and the rest of the team to be such an incredible gift. Projects that Monica has written, directed and/or produced have been internationally recognized at over 20 different film festivals and can be viewed at their ongoing festival screenings. Most recently, Monica directed Lydia Granered's first music video for her song, Weekend. She is currently in pre-production to direct two new short films, Young Minds of America by Danny Epstein & Derek Rushing and Mirror Mila co-written by and featuring Lindsey Sagrera. You can see Monica's original web series, Nun Habits, screening at T.O. Webfest's virtual festival this July and at Cinequest this August.

Angelica Jacinto - 1st Assistant Camera

Angelica Jacinto is a filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York who is passionate about cinematography as an art form. She has experience as Director of Photography, 1st Assistant Camera, Camera Operator and Production Assistant on a number of independent short films and two web series. Angelica earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Media with a concentration in Film Studies from Fordham University. She currently works for Amref Health Africa, a non-profit that provides preventative health services in Africa, as a writer, graphic designer, and producer of photo and video content.

Igor Kuwonu - Key Grip

Igor has dabbled in the world of acting and film production while in high school and college. He is happy and grateful to continue his involvement thanks to Dominique, Amilcar, and Iron Glove Productions. He is proud to be working and helping with the creation of stories that convey powerful messages relevant to us today.

Adonis Williams - Prop Master

Adonis is a native of Brooklyn, New York. Son of working- class parents who both migrated to the city from the Dominican Republic, he graduated from The School of Visual Arts with a Bachelors degree in Film/Video. While at film school, he landed an internship with Sun God Collection, a small company under Director Julien "Director X" Lutz.

Adonis was a board member of Brooklyn Young Filmmakers, a non-profit organization introducing teens and adults from underserved communities to the different jobs available in the film/tv industry by working on actual shoots. He also spends time volunteering with Keep Striving International. Another non-profit currently building a school in his parents native country of Dominican Republic.

He is currently working on his first feature film. Adonis has written, produced, directed, and edited all four of his shorts.

Today he is unrepresented working as a New York based director.

Kevin Ho - Behind The Scenes Photographer

Kevin is a Project Manager/Scrum Master in the Healthcare industry. Kevin is also a photography enthusiast while he's not leading multiple project teams. He was brought on board to support Iron Glove Productions with capturing behind the scenes photography and videos. Kevin is grateful for this amazing opportunity with Iron Glove Productions, the cast, and the film crew.
